GRAND HOTEL CONTINENTAL

Pope Alexander VII had Palazzo Gori Pannilini built in the 17th century. The palazzo stands in the heart of the town, a few steps away from Piazza del Campo and facing the historical headquarters of the Monte dei Paschi bank in the district known as the Contrada del Drago. The refurbishment uncovered hidden frescoes of incredible beauty and highlighted the medieval tower. The Grand Hotel Continental reopened on February 14, 2002. With its subtly projecting rustication and sober, elegant lines, the majestic facade of the palazzo is characterized by a great portal crowned with the Gori coat of arms. The original interior layout was retained in creating 51 rooms and suites furnished with antique furniture and costly fabrics, where painstaking care is lavished on every detail. Terracotta tiling is featured on the ground and first floors and fitted carpet on the upper levels.
