The Ritter is located in the heart of the old town in the immediate vicinity of all famous landmarks. The pedestrian area, starts immediately in front of the hotel and offers ample shopping possibilities amongst various restaurants and bars.
Located opposite the hotel, the gothic style church of the Holy Ghost which once was the safe keeping of some of the most significant European books of the Bibliotheca Palatina. Adjacent to the church is the market square with the city hall. The old bridge with a spectacular view of the Heidelberg Castle and the river Neckar are just a couple of yards away. The old university, the university prison and the funicular station (gateway to the Heidelberg Castle) can be reached in less than 5 minutes walking. The cloth dealer and his wife had it built in the year 1592; today, the venerable gable house of sandstone, full of fluted columns and ornately carved window blocks, is a listing building.
