Sugar Ridge commands an elevated position on a natural hillside and is ablaze with an abundance of colorful indigenous plants and sugar cane. It is set against a spectacular backdrop of Antigua's dramatic forested coastal highlands, with panoramic views whilst many of Antigua's most beautiful beaches are on the doorstep and quickly accessible by the hotel's complimentary shuttle. On the horizon lay Montserrat, Redonda, Nevis and St. Kitts. This area is also one of Antigua's most fertile regions with its black pineapple farms and mango trees close by.
The hotel has 60 bedrooms grouped in sets of four, tiered on the hillside allowing each to enjoy the spectacular setting. Each bedroom has its own entrance door from the garden walkways. Ground floor rooms have large veranda's plunge pool and upper floor rooms have large veranda and day-bed. All are designed in a colonial, contemporary style with muslin draped four poster beds. Bathrooms feature single vanities and double showers. The amenities are conducive with today's lifestyle including an iPod docker.
Sugar Ridge offers a spa and an extensively equipped gym. The facilities are supported by a team of qualified trainers and therapists. This area is approximately 6,000 square feet - a serious amount of space to be pampered, relax or tone up. There are 2 swimming pools, great sunbathing decks and chill out areas providing shade.
There are two restaurants to choose from each with their own team of chefs and offering a different style of cuisine. Carmichaels is the hotels fine dining restaurant and is designed to fully appreciate arguably some of the best views in Antigua at the same time as enjoying some of the best cuisine. The decor is chic with wooden floors and shutters, and contemporary furnishings with colonial accents. The kitchen work hard to ensure that all of their dishes reflect what's fresh now from Antigua's local markets. The infinity edged pool and sun decks adjacent to Carmichaels offer the perfect location to enjoy breathtaking sunsets.
Sugar Club is one of the social epicenters of Sugar Ridge. The restaurant and bar are informal and have quite a chic feel. They overlook the resort's two swimming pools and dining is both indoors and outdoors on the covered verandas. High ceilings and large open shutters provide a contemporary feel cooled by Caribbean breezes. Offering one of the best breakfast menus around, light lunches in a beautiful setting through to dinner with great salads, pastas, steaks and fish all complimented by a first class and professional team of staff. Sugar Club is also home to some of the best Sushi in Antigua. Open all day long from 7:00am to 10:00pm and all week long. Sugar Club has a good local following so you'll get to meet some of the great characters who come to enjoy the live entertainment in the bar which is featured most nights of the week.
There is a concierge and bell hop service with electric buggies for convenience to get around the hotel, or if preferred then the natural stone pathways and water features make for an idyllic walk through the gardens. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service to/from several of some of the best beaches which are just minutes away on the palm lined fringes of the Caribbean Sea.
